"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will."
it's no secret, when i switched from film to digital it was essentially starting over with photography. it was hard and i had NO IDEA what i was doing. in 2008 when i bought my first digital camera, i basically taught myself how to use my new camera and how to edit digitals through self portrait projects. some of the work was completely cringe worthy but i still love to revisit where i started. i've come a long way over the past ten years!
since today is national selfie day, i thought i'd share some of my "selfies"!
the following portraits were taken between 2008-2017.
self portraits are a great way to understand lighting, posing and editing techniques. i highly recommend participating in a 52 weeks project (one self portrait a week) or 365 project (one self portrait per day) to get to know your camera and the digital photography process!
